Post #3: Vitoria! Vamos la Portugal!

It was hard to say goodbye to Dar Nour in Tangier.  We loved Morocco and hope to return with the kids one day for a Senegal-Morocco study of the two nations who help illustrate the beauty of Islam and the complexity of our world.  On our ride to Portugal, through Spain, we had a great discussion of how uncomfortable Americans tend to be with complexity...we want clear lines and simple answers.  Morocco has no straight lines (literally or figuratively), and it was nice to wander there and begin to get a sense of one small corner of the old, large society.

We were buoyed by our arrival in Portugal a few hours before they played France for the European Cup.  Old news by now, but, Portugal won!  It was a beautiful night and we enjoyed sitting outside in a square with Portuguese families and as well as a fair number of British families on vacation in the Algarve.  We are staying near the Mediterranean in Ferragudo.  Altogether, we will visit four places:

#1.  Tarifa Spain (just one night)
#2 Tangier, Morocco
#3.  southern Portugal (Ferragudo)
#4.  Sintra Portugal
#5.  Lisbon (just one night)
